FAQ

Where is the Water Breathing trainer?
Urokodaki sits inside a sealed room at the end of an underwater tunnel beneath the waterfall on the south side of Bamboo Grove Sanctuary. Dive under the bushes at the water's surface beside the small island hut, swim the tunnel without stopping, then climb the ladder.
Do you need Wall Climb to reach Urokodaki?
The dive itself is a swim and a ladder rather than a climb, but the shared trainer prerequisites are Wall Climb and Double Jump, and the training chain includes a parkour dungeon. Unlock both movement skills in the skill tree before you travel.
How many Demon Horns does Water Breathing cost?
Community sources report 30 Demon Horns plus 5,000 Wen, one of the two most expensive entry fees among the eight styles. No official figure exists, because Ouw Productions has never published material costs, so read the number on Urokodaki's dialogue box and treat that as final.
Was Water Breathing nerfed or buffed?
Buffed, and heavily. Patch v0.98 gave Whirlpool a 3.3-second strict stun that also works while you are stunned, made Water Wheel refresh strict stun on every hit, moved Surface Slash to approach i-frames, and extended Waterfall Basin's recovery to 2.25 seconds.
Can a demon learn Water Breathing?
No. Breathing styles are locked to human Slayer characters, and demon characters progress through Blood Demon Arts instead. If you have already drunk Muzan's blood, you cannot take this trainer chain.

What does Water Breathing actually give you?

Water Breathing is a five-slot sword style built around strict stun chains rather than raw burst. Since patch v0.98 it holds the longest stun tool in the game and the only one you can fire while you are stunned yourself, which is why every current tier list moved it upward.

Every breathing style uses the same five skill slots — Z, X, C, V and B — and unlocking a style never hands you the moves. You buy each node individually with skill points in the skill tree, which opens from the menu bound to M, and the game gives about three points per level. Community pages also report that you can specialise in only one breathing style at a time, with a full trainer rerun required to switch, but that claim rests on a single third-party site, so verify it before you plan around it.

The style’s identity is control rather than damage. Water Wheel and Whirlpool both apply strict stun, the version of stun that cannot be ignored or traded through, and Whirlpool’s is long enough to act as a genuine reset button. That combination is unusual across the roster; most other styles either burst harder or move faster, but none of them lock a target down as reliably. The breathing styles tier list compares all eight options once the balance patch is taken into account.

How do you unlock Water Breathing?

Water Breathing needs level 25, a human Slayer character, the 5,000 Wen and 30 Demon Horns that Urokodaki’s dialogue lists, plus a finished training chain. You must also defeat the Water Trainee before the style is granted, and the moves are then bought one by one from the skill tree.

  • Level 25 is the shared floor for Water, Flame, Thunder, Wind, Stone, Sound, Insect and Serpent alike, and the Thunder and Serpent chains use the same gate. Five or more independent outlets agree on it, but Ouw Productions has never published a level requirement, so it stays Community Verified rather than official.
  • Wall Climb and Double Jump live in the mobility branch of the skill tree and are the standard prerequisites for trainer routes. The dive to Urokodaki is a swim rather than a climb, but the shared training checklist includes a parkour dungeon, and the Final Selection parkour later assumes both skills, so unlock them early.
  • Demons cannot learn any breathing style. The demon route runs on Blood Demon Arts instead, which means the faction decision comes before the grinding, not after it.
  • The cross-style training checklist mixes Meditation, Push-ups, Boulder Push, Boulder Split, Aim Training and a Parkour Dungeon. Water’s version adds an underwater collection step and ends with the Trainee fight.

If you are still below the level gate, the Windy Peak quest chain and the early side quests carry you there without dedicated grinding. The beginner guide and the leveling guide both map that stretch of the game.

Where is the Water Breathing trainer and how do you reach Urokodaki?

From Bamboo Grove Sanctuary, head to the southern edge and find the waterfall with the small island and wooden hut beside it. The entrance is underwater, tucked beneath the bushes at the water’s surface rather than at the base of the falls, so dive from the brush and swim the tunnel to its end.

  1. Travel to Bamboo Grove Sanctuary and walk the south side of the area until the waterfall comes into view. Bamboo Grove is the level 13–25 zone, so the approach is safe at the level this unlock requires.
  2. Find the small island with the wooden hut sitting next to the falls. TechWiser describes the trainer as reachable by “swimming down beneath the waterfall near Arodaki”, the same landmark under a different spelling of the name.
  3. Look for the submerged gap beneath the bushes on the water’s surface, not the plunge pool directly under the falling water. That brush-covered opening is the entrance.
  4. Swim the underwater tunnel in one continuous run. It deals drowning damage, and community route notes warn that the tunnel is long enough that pausing to look around can kill you.
  5. Climb the ladder at the far end into the sealed room. Urokodaki, full name Sakonji Urokodaki, stands inside, and the chat prompt appears once you are on the platform.

Two details make this route friendlier than its reputation. Slayers 2 ships without an in-game world map, so every route is described by landmarks rather than coordinates, and this waterfall system doubles as the best Demon Horns farm for the unlock itself — the cave behind the Bamboo Grove falls is full of Hoyuzo Subordinates. If you want fast travel first, complete the Lost Pages quest for the Book of Guidance, and the five Lost Pages spots are a short round trip.

Name collisions are worth knowing before you set out. Urokodaki and Sabito are both clan names in the clan pool at Rare tier and twelve percent, and Sabito is also the name of the Water Trainee you fight at the end of the chain. Neither clan is connected to this trainer. Unlike Stone’s Gyorei or Serpent’s Obari, no same-name world boss is documented for Water, so there is no second Urokodaki wandering the map to confuse you.

What materials and Wen does Urokodaki ask for?

Community reports put the Water cost at 5,000 Wen and 30 Demon Horns, one of the two most expensive entry fees among the eight styles. Treat those numbers as a shopping list rather than a contract: the only authoritative figure is the one printed in Urokodaki’s dialogue box.

Requirement Community-reported amount Where it comes from Confidence
Level 25 shared gate for all eight styles Community Verified
Wen 5,000 quest rewards, monster drops, chests, Coin Pouches sold to Ginzo in Mistfall Harbor Community Verified
Demon Horns 30 Hoyuzo Subordinates in the cave behind the Bamboo Grove waterfall (one each), Iceveil Valley High Demons (two each) Community Verified
Beast Cores none listed for Water by any source Beast Born Demons near Mistfall and the village by Tom, at night not required per current sources

Ouw Productions has never published Wen or material numbers for any style, so every figure online is a community transcription. Reported Wen costs across the eight styles run from 4,000 to 10,000, and the Demon Horns spread is genuinely wide — 10 for Flame and Thunder, 20 for Serpent, 30 for Water, 50 for Wind — rather than one typo copied around. The Demon Horns and Beast Cores guide covers both farming loops in detail.

Wen is usually the slower half of the bill. The Release26 code pays 100 Wen, 30 Spins and 1 Refinement Ore, but only after you join the Ouw Productions Roblox group, and the codes page tracks which codes are still live. For everything else, Coin Pouches and dungeon chests are the reliable source, and the money and trading guide explains where to sell them.

What are the Water Breathing moves and keybinds?

The majority version of the Water kit is Z Surface Slash, X Whirlpool, C Water Wheel, V Constant Flux and B Dead Calm. A competing six-move list with mastery levels circulates just as widely and looks like Project Slayers 1 data, so treat every specific keybind claim as disputed.

Key Majority list Competing list Note
Z Surface Slash Water Surface Slash both versions agree this is the opener
X Whirlpool Water Wheel v0.98 gave Whirlpool the 3.3-second strict stun
C Water Wheel Water Serpent
V Constant Flux Ripple Thrust
B Dead Calm Waterfall Basin only the B = Dead Calm point has independent agreement
Constant Flux at mastery 46 ties Constant Flux to defeating Giyu

Two sources back the majority layout and only one backs the six-move layout, whose names overlap heavily with the first Project Slayers game; the giveaway is that the competing version assigns Water Surface Slash to mastery level one. One point survives independently in both camps: the B slot is Dead Calm, and Constant Flux is a separate move rather than the ultimate. Community pages also list ten Water “forms” from the anime, but that list is single-source and cosmetic, and nothing in it maps cleanly onto the five in-game slots.

Read the keybinds as labels rather than gospel. If your skill tree shows a different order after you buy the nodes, trust the game, because the client is the only source that cannot be out of date.

What did patch v0.98 change for Water Breathing?

Patch v0.98 on 21 September 2026 rebuilt Water’s stun game. Whirlpool gained a 3.3-second strict stun that also works while you are stunned, Water Wheel refreshes a short strict stun on every hit, Surface Slash traded hyper armor for approach i-frames, and Waterfall Basin’s recovery grew to 2.25 seconds.

Change Detail Confidence
Whirlpool damage increased, applies a 3.3s strict stun, and can be cast while you are stunned Community Verified, two sources agree on the numbers
Water Wheel, held trigger threshold cut from 0.3s to 0.15s, and the move now carries the target with you single source
Water Wheel, tapped added: 25 damage across 9 hits, each hit refreshing a 0.35s strict stun single source
Water Wheel, defense lost hyper armor entirely single source
Surface Slash hyper armor replaced with approach i-frames that end the moment the slash begins Community Verified, two sources agree
Waterfall Basin recovery stun or ragdoll extended from 1.5s to 2.25s, with a faster dash and longer reach single source

The design trade is visible in that table. Water gave up a defensive layer on Water Wheel and gained the ability to keep a target locked down almost permanently. Whirlpool being usable while stunned is the part that changes matchups most, because it turns an opponent’s stun opener into your counterattack. The same patch also made the style’s damage respectable, which it was not before.

The version numbering deserves a warning. Some sites call this patch v.09, and one outlet reports the exact opposite of the community consensus on Thunder’s startup timing from the same patch. We keep v0.98 because a video release date, Pro Game Guides’ version tag and two independent patch write-ups all use it, and the update history page keeps per-claim confidence labels for exactly this reason.

How does the v0.110 block fix change Water matchups?

Patch v0.110 does not touch Water directly. It removes the condition that stopped block from recharging while you were stunned, adds a block-recharge indicator to the bottom left of the PC screen, and stops damage-over-time ticks from eating a counter. For a style built on strict stun, that first change matters most.

Before the fix, a stunned player’s block bar simply froze, so a Water combo that opened with strict stun effectively deleted the opponent’s defence for the duration of the chain. Now the bar keeps filling during the stun, which means follow-up hits land on a partially restored guard and the old pattern of stunning and then freely unloading is weaker against anyone who blocks on recovery. The new indicator hands your opponent the same information, so expect better-timed blocks in duels.

The damage-over-time change is a side note for Water but a headline for Flame, because burn ticks no longer trigger counters. If you fight a Flame build, the Flame Breathing page explains what that means for their pressure.

One sourcing caveat: v0.110’s contents currently come from a single outlet. Independent monitoring did record two Roblox place updates on 22 September, which is consistent with a patch landing, but the notes themselves were never published outside the official Discord. You can confirm you are on the patched build by checking for the block-recharge indicator or the rematch button after a PvP match.

What is the best Water Breathing combo in the current patch?

No frame data has been published, so the honest answer is that these are patterns that fit the tools rather than confirmed true combos. Open with Surface Slash to close the gap under i-frames, hold the target inside Water Wheel’s stun refreshes, and finish with Waterfall Basin’s 2.25-second knockdown.

Play the style in this order:

  1. Approach with Surface Slash. The i-frames cover the dash only, so this is a gap-closer rather than a defensive tool you can sit inside.
  2. Follow with Water Wheel tapped rather than held if you want the repeated 0.35-second strict stun refreshes that keep a target standing in place.
  3. Use the held version when you want to relocate someone, since it carries them along and its trigger threshold is now much shorter.
  4. Save Whirlpool for a reversal. It is the only move in the kit that can be cast while you are stunned, and its 3.3-second strict stun is long enough to restart the sequence.
  5. Close with Waterfall Basin. The extended recovery is the payoff for everything above, and the faster dash plus longer reach makes it land more reliably than it did before the patch.

Outside of combos, Water is the more forgiving of the two styles if you dislike committing to long exchanges, because its i-frames and its stun both give you a way out of a bad position. If you want the opposite end of that spectrum, meaning heavy telegraphed hits backed by hyper armor, the Stone Breathing page walks through the same trade in reverse, while the Wind Breathing page shows what a mobility-first alternative looks like after its own buffs. Players who would rather pressure from range should compare the Sound and Insect styles, which both rely on projectiles and lingering effects instead of stun chains.

How strong is Water Breathing now, and which clan fits it?

Beebom’s 22 September list, published after the balance patch, puts Water in A tier, while Pro Game Guides and two of AllThings.how’s own lists place it at the top of S. Destructoid’s 20 September snapshot ranked it C before the buffs landed, which is the clearest evidence of how much v0.98 changed.

Source Date and version Water’s rank Note
Destructoid 20 September, pre-balance C low numbers and slow animations, and the article itself flags that buffs were coming
Pro Game Guides updated 21 September, V0.98 S, first moved to the front of the top tier after the patch
AllThings.how v0.98 write-up S in one list, S first in another the same article carries two different orderings
slayers2-game.wiki v0.98 meta page S grouped with Flame and Wind
Beebom 22 September, post-balance A the most recent dated list, and the most conservative

Two conclusions follow. The direction of travel is not in dispute, because every post-patch list ranks Water higher than the pre-patch one, and the disagreement is only about whether it sits at the top of A or the top of S. Tier lists are also opinions rather than patch facts, so read the date and version label before trusting a ranking, which is precisely what the breathing styles tier list does with both major lists side by side.

There is no documented clan with a Water-specific passive. Urokodaki and Sabito are clan names in the pool, but they grant the same generic damage, health and mitigation passives as any other clan, and both major clan lists agree that the universal top picks are Rengoku, Uzui, Soyama and Kamado — all Supreme rarity at a 0.1 percent roll. If you are rolling clan spins specifically for this style, do not chase the namesakes; the clan reroll guide explains what a spin actually costs you. The real Water-specific reward sits at maximum mastery, where the Water Perfected title adds a small damage factor to breathing styles once equipped.

What is this page based on?

This page is built from Community Verified sources: AllThings.how’s v0.98 and v0.110 patch breakdowns, Beebom’s post-patch tier list, Pro Game Guides’ trainer hub, games.gg’s trainer location table, gameshorizon’s Water route article and TechWiser’s beginner guide, all cross-checked on 23 September 2026, with every disputed number flagged inline.

Three groups of claims here fall below that standard and should be read as single-source reports. The six training steps and Sabito’s roughly 600 HP come from gameshorizon alone; the Water Wheel numbers, the Basin timing and the loss of hyper armor come from AllThings.how alone; and the “one style at a time” rule comes from one competitor wiki. The Trainer’s own dialogue box outranks all of them, so check the material list and skill names the moment you reach the hidden room.
