FAQ

Where is the Thunder Breathing trainer in Slayers 2?
Zentaro stands on a flat high plateau at the top of the mountain route. Start from the bamboo village bridge, cross the river, pass the Obari boss area, then climb the large rock pillars and tree trunks to the summit. Four outlets describe the peak differently, so treat the climb as the reliable part rather than the name.
Do you need Wall Climb for Thunder Breathing?
Yes. Two outlets list Wall Climb as part of the unlock, and the trainer is physically unreachable without it because the final stretch is a vertical climb. Unlock Wall Climb and Double Jump in the skill tree before you attempt the route.
How many Demon Horns does Thunder Breathing cost?
Two independent outlets report 10 Demon Horns at level 25, the joint cheapest bill alongside Flame. Games.gg lists only Wall Climb and omits the horns entirely, and no source gives a Wen price for this trainer, so read Zentaro's dialogue box and treat it as final.
Why was Thunder Breathing nerfed?
Patch v0.98 removed Rice Spirit's strict stun, changed that move to a 0.3-second hold, cut God Speed from 80 to 50, and shortened the finisher stun from 1.5 to 1 second. The style had been rated S before the patch because its casts were instant, and the nerfs attacked exactly that.
Did v0.110 fix Thunder Breathing?
Partly. Patch v0.110 reportedly reduced the cast time of Thunder Clap and Flash and Rice Spirit by 20 percent and raised their stuns to 1.5 and 1.25 seconds, but those numbers come from a single outlet. The style is rated A rather than S on the most recent dated list.

What does Thunder Breathing actually give you?

Thunder Breathing is the fastest-cast style in the game: a lightning kit built on instant openers, a short repositioning dash and a burst finisher. It was rated S before the balance patch, was cut hard in v0.98, and came back to A tier after v0.110 partially restored its cast times and stuns.

Every breathing style uses the same five slots — Z, X, C, V and B — and none of the moves arrive with the style. You buy each node with skill points in the skill tree, opened with M, at roughly three points per level. Community pages report a one-style-at-a-time rule, but that claim comes from a single competitor site, so do not treat it as settled.

Thunder’s identity is speed rather than control. Its openers are meant to land before the opponent’s animation starts, which is why every tier list from launch week described it as the duelist’s pick. The nerfs removed that advantage from one specific move rather than from the whole kit, and the style still reaches further into a fight faster than Water, Flame or Stone. The breathing styles tier list shows how the pre-nerf and post-nerf rankings diverge for this style more than for any other.

How do you unlock Thunder Breathing?

Thunder Breathing needs level 25, a human Slayer character, 10 Demon Horns and Wall Climb. You must also clear the trainer’s task chain and defeat the Thunder Trainee, after which the moves are bought individually from the skill tree, so the horns are not the only gate on this route.

  • Level 25 is the shared floor for all eight styles — Thunder, Water, Flame, Wind, Stone, Sound, Insect and Serpent. It is Community Verified across five or more outlets, but Ouw Productions has never published a level requirement.
  • Wall Climb is not optional here. Two outlets list it in the unlock requirements, and the last stretch of the route is a vertical climb that cannot be bypassed; the skill tree guide explains where both movement skills sit.
  • 10 Demon Horns is the reported material cost, but games.gg lists only Wall Climb and omits the horns, which is the one open disagreement about this trainer.
  • Demons cannot learn breathing styles at all, since the demon path uses Blood Demon Arts. Pick your faction before you invest in the route.
  • The shared training checklist covers Meditation, Push-ups, Boulder Push, Boulder Split, Aim Training and a Parkour Dungeon, with the Trainee fight as the final step.

If you are still climbing toward level 25, the Windy Peak quest chain and the bear-area quests are the efficient stretch; the leveling guide and the beginner guide both cover it.

Where is Zentaro and how do you reach the mountain peak?

Start at the bamboo village bridge, cross the river, pass the Obari boss area, then climb the large rock pillars and tree trunks to a flat high plateau where Zentaro waits. Four outlets describe the peak in four different ways, so the climb matters more than the name on the map.

  1. Cross the bamboo village bridge and continue over the river. This is the transition from the bamboo side of the map toward the mountain, and it is the landmark the most detailed route description uses.
  2. Pass the Obari boss area without engaging. It is a landmark on the way up, not your destination, and low-level players should not pick that fight.
  3. Climb the large rock pillars and tree trunks. This is the section that requires Wall Climb, and it is also where players without Double Jump stall out on the final ledge.
  4. Continue to the flat plateau at the top. The route description ends on level ground rather than a spire, which is unusual enough to be a useful confirmation that you are in the right place.
  5. Interact with Zentaro on the plateau. His position is exposed, so if you can see the whole plateau and no NPC, you are on the wrong peak.

The naming problem is real. Games.gg places the trainer on a mountain route near the bear village, sportsrant says the summit is near Bamboo Grove, slayers2wiki puts him on the high ground above Windy Peak, and AllThings.how calls the destination the Verdant Cliffs plateau. Those four descriptions could all be the same mountain under different local names, or two different peaks. Slayers 2 has no in-game world map, so there is no official label to settle it, and we flag it as an unresolved conflict rather than picking a favourite.

The Obari landmark is worth a second warning. Obari is the name of the boss area you pass, but it is also the name of the Serpent trainer and of the Serpent King world boss, so the same word points at three different things in this game. If you are heading for the Serpent Breathing trainer, you are going to a different place entirely. Rooftop and cliff trainers add their own confusion, and the trainer locations hub collects all eight routes side by side.

What materials does Zentaro ask for?

Two independent outlets report level 25 plus 10 Demon Horns, the joint cheapest horn bill in the game alongside Flame. Games.gg lists only Wall Climb and leaves the horns out, and no source reports a Wen price, so the dialogue box is the only authority.

Requirement Community-reported amount Where it comes from Confidence
Level 25 shared gate for all eight styles Community Verified
Demon Horns 10 Hoyuzo Subordinates in the cave behind the Bamboo Grove waterfall (one each), Iceveil Valley High Demons (two each) Community Verified, two outlets, one omits it
Wall Climb mandatory skill tree, mobility branch Community Verified
Wen no figure reported general Wen range across styles is 4,000 to 10,000 not confirmed for Thunder
Beast Cores no figure reported Beast Born Demons near Mistfall and the village by Tom, at night not confirmed for Thunder

Ten horns is a short farm if you use the right loop. The cave behind the Bamboo Grove waterfall is the closest spawn to the trainer route and drops one horn per Hoyuzo Subordinate, while Iceveil Valley High Demons drop two each at the cost of continuous cold damage while you are in the snow. The Demon Horns and Beast Cores guide compares the two loops, and if you are short on cash for the gear that makes the climb safer, the money and trading guide covers Wen farming.

What are the Thunder Breathing moves and keybinds?

The documented Thunder layout is Z Thunder Clap and Flash, X Lightning Folds, C Rice Spirit, V God Speed and B Flaming Thunder God. One outlet supplies the whole layout, so the mapping is provisional; only the B slot has independent agreement from a second source.

Key Move Notes
Z Thunder Clap and Flash the instant opener, reportedly cast 20% faster after v0.110
X Lightning Folds part of the finisher family affected by the v0.98 stun cut
C Rice Spirit lost strict stun in v0.98 and now needs a 0.3-second hold
V God Speed dash distance cut from 80 to 50 in v0.98
B Flaming Thunder God the ultimate, confirmed by a second source, and it applies burn with Agatsuma

A separate community list of six Thunder “forms” also circulates — Thunderclap and Flash, Rice Spirit, Thunder Swarm, Distant Thunder, Heat Lightning, Rumble and Flash — but it comes from one site and does not map onto the five in-game slots. Do not buy nodes expecting those names. Wind and Serpent are the only styles whose keybinds enjoy genuine multi-source agreement, so if slot accuracy decides your pick, the Wind Breathing page is the safer reference.

What is not disputed is the shape of the kit. The documented layout gives Thunder one instant opener, one stun-and-punish move, one dash and one burst ultimate, which makes it a hit-and-run style that wants short exchanges. There is no counter among those five moves, unlike Flame’s Undulation or Water’s approach i-frames, so a Thunder player who misses the opener has to disengage with a dash that is now half the length it used to be.

What did patch v0.98 take away from Thunder Breathing?

Patch v0.98 on 21 September 2026 cut Thunder harder than any other style. Rice Spirit lost its strict stun and became a 0.3-second hold, God Speed’s dash dropped from 80 to 50, and the finisher stun across Rice Spirit, Lightning Folds and God Speed fell from 1.5 to 1 second.

Change Detail Confidence
Rice Spirit strict stun removed, input changed to a 0.3-second hold Community Verified, two sources agree
God Speed dash distance 80 to 50 Community Verified, two sources agree
Finisher stun 1.5s to 1s on Rice Spirit, Lightning Folds and God Speed single source
Thunder Clap and Flash startup one outlet reports 1.1s to 0.45s, another reports an increase of 0.2s unresolved, the two sources point in opposite directions

The Rice Spirit change is the one that reshaped the style. Strict stun is the version of stun that cannot be traded through, so losing it removed the guaranteed punish that made Thunder’s burst reliable; requiring a hold on top of that added a wind-up to a kit whose entire value was not having one. Shortening God Speed compounds the problem, because the escape tool now leaves you closer to the fight you were trying to leave.

The unresolved startup claim is worth naming. One outlet says Thunder Clap and Flash became dramatically faster in the same patch, while another says its startup grew and the whole kit gained about a second of release delay. Those cannot both be true, and a wave of creator videos titled around Thunder being the worst style in the game appeared in the same week, which fits the nerf narrative rather than the speed-up one. We mark the direction as disputed and leave the numbers attached to their sources.

How did v0.110 walk the nerfs back?

Patch v0.110 on 22 September 2026 reportedly reduced the cast time of Thunder Clap and Flash and Rice Spirit by 20 percent and raised their stuns to 1.5 and 1.25 seconds. Those figures come from a single outlet, so treat them as a partial rollback rather than a restoration.

Move v0.110 change Confidence
Thunder Clap and Flash cast time reduced 20%, stun 1.35s to 1.5s single source
Rice Spirit cast time reduced 20%, stun 1.0s to 1.25s single source

Even taken at face value, this does not undo v0.98. Rice Spirit’s strict stun is still gone, so the style’s stun can be traded through where it previously could not, and God Speed is still at 50 rather than 80. What the rollback does is shorten the window in which a Thunder player is standing still, which was the complaint that hurt most at the casual level of play.

The same patch also changed something that matters to every stun-based style: block now recharges while you are stunned, and PC players see a recharge indicator in the bottom left of the screen. For Thunder that is a net negative, because its stuns are already the shortest in the roster and the target’s guard is now partially restored by the time the follow-up lands. The update history page keeps the full patch record with per-claim confidence, and the Water Breathing page covers how the same change affects the style with the longest stun in the game.

Why does the Agatsuma clan matter for Thunder?

Agatsuma is the Thunder clan. It applies a damage amplification mark to targets, adds bonus damage when you are low on health, and makes Flaming Thunder God apply burn on top of its normal damage. Destructoid grades it S only when paired with Thunder, and Mythic rarity puts it at a 0.9 percent roll.

Clan Rarity Roll chance What it adds to a Thunder build
Agatsuma Mythic 0.9% damage amplification mark, low-health damage bonus, burn on Flaming Thunder God
Rengoku Supreme 0.1% burn focus for Flame, and no Thunder-specific hook
Kocho Legendary 4% poison focus, which needs Insect
Kamado, Uzui, Soyama Supreme 0.1% generic damage, evasion and counter passives that fit any style

Both major clan lists rank Agatsuma as a conditional pick rather than a universal one, and both name Rengoku, Uzui, Soyama and Kamado as the top generic options. That makes the clan decision for Thunder unusually clean: if you already have Agatsuma, this is the style it was made for; if you do not, a strong generic clan will outperform a bad roll. The clan tier list covers the full pool, the best clans for beginners covers the early game, and the clan reroll guide explains what a spin costs before you chase a Mythic.

The burn interaction is also worth understanding in light of v0.110, which stopped damage-over-time ticks from counting as hits. Your Flaming Thunder God burn no longer interacts with counter windows, so treat it as extra damage rather than as a tool for baiting a reaction.

What is the best Thunder combo and how does it rank now?

No frame data has been published, so this is a pattern rather than a guaranteed chain. Open with Thunder Clap and Flash, punish the stun before it expires, hold Rice Spirit when you need its 1.25-second stun, and keep God Speed for disengaging rather than for closing.

  1. Lead with Thunder Clap and Flash. It is still the fastest commit in the game, and after v0.110 it is reportedly 20 percent quicker on the cast.
  2. Convert immediately. Every Thunder stun is now short, and block recharges during stun, so any pause between the opener and the follow-up lets the guard recover.
  3. Use Rice Spirit with the hold, not the tap. The 0.3-second hold is the input the move requires after v0.98, and it is the longest stun left in the kit if the v0.110 figures hold.
  4. Keep God Speed for exits. At 50 units it no longer crosses a fight, so treating it as an engage tool is the most common way Thunder players die.
  5. Close with Flaming Thunder God. This is also the only Thunder move that gains a burn effect from Agatsuma, which is what pushes the clan pairing above generic options.
Source Date and version Thunder’s rank Note
Destructoid 20 September, pre-balance S instant casts made it the strongest duel style at launch
AllThings.how v0.98 write-up A published the day after the nerf and moved it down
slayers2-game.wiki v0.98 meta page A grouped with Stone, Sound and Serpent
Beebom 22 September, post-balance A the most recent dated list, still below Flame and Wind

The trajectory is the story here. Thunder lost the top spot in a single patch, partially recovered it a day later, and now sits at the top of the second tier on the most recent list. That is still a strong position for a style with zero defensive tools, and it remains the best pick for players who win by reacting first. If you want a style with a counter button instead, the Flame Breathing page covers Undulation, and if you want the other extreme with hyper armor, the Stone Breathing page covers that. Ranged players should compare the Sound and Insect styles, which both trade a committed opener for spacing tools.

At maximum mastery, Thunder also unlocks the Thunder Perfected title, which adds a small damage factor to breathing styles once equipped. The titles guide explains how equipped buffs and permanent passives differ, which matters because only three buff titles can be active.

What is this page based on?

This page is built from Community Verified sources: AllThings.how’s v0.98 and v0.110 patch breakdowns, Beebom’s post-patch tier list and clan tiers, Destructoid’s pre-patch tier list, games.gg’s trainer table with sportsrant’s cost table, slayers2wiki’s location pages and TechWiser’s farming guide, cross-checked on 23 September 2026.

Three caveats belong to this page specifically. Every v0.110 figure comes from one outlet, with only independent monitoring of two Roblox place updates on 22 September as corroboration. The full keybind layout is single-source, and the same write-up that documents most of v0.98 is the only place the finisher stun cut appears. Finally, the four location descriptions for Zentaro’s peak do not agree, so follow the climb rather than the place name and confirm the materials on the dialogue box when you arrive.
